We welcomed Peter back to action today, following his time with Bradford City and it was evident that the coaching he has had there has improved his skills and awareness on the pitch. However, this was not enough to suppress a well drilled and very able Menston side.

For the first seven to ten minutes of this game we matched Menston in just about every department. We were playing well, putting together some good moves and attacking and defending well. Sadly, a couple of quick goals saw our heads go down and, from then on, it was pretty much one way traffic.

Menston’s game is based on using the skills and pace of their wide players, who in turn provide good crosses to their strikers who do their job by finishing clinically. Frankly, we struggled to cope with their fluid passing and use of the full width of the pitch.

Last season we were dishing out the sort of punishment that we were on the receiving end of today. We have the ability to play against the teams we are up against in the top league that we find ourselves in this season. What we have to do is have more confidence in our ability and play football like we can.

In just about every game so far this season we have played some good football, but do not seem able to maintain this for a full game. We have to, if we’re going to get some positive results and build our confidence going forward.

Team: Ben, Hassan, Emeka, Peter, Josh, Joe, Tom, Zach.
